If those foundations are weak, AI accelerates confusion rather than capability.

That shift usually leads to cleaner service boundaries, better data discipline, more explicit policy models, and clearer ownership of outcomes. In other words, the organization becomes more coherent even before its AI sophistication becomes impressive.
The practical path forward
The realistic path is incremental. Pick one operating flow where ambiguity is high and context handoffs are painful. Map the real decision structure, not the formal process map. Then redesign that flow so AI participates within clear authority, bounded context, and explicit escalation.
Once that works, treat it as an operating-model pattern, not a one-off use case. Over time, those patterns become the basis of a genuinely AI-native enterprise.
